Definition: In the Paṭṭhāna, paccaya names a condition or conditional relation by which dhammas stand in dependence on one another. The canonical book then lists twenty-four such paccayas and defines each in turn (Paṭṭh 2-59).

Stub: pilot. This page records the basic Abhidhamma canonical usage first; fuller expansion of the paccaya family belongs to later supporting-page work.
