Summary: Santati-mahāmatta is a figure from the Dhammapada-aṭṭhakathā commentary (not canonical). In the vatthu story he is a royal minister who attained arahantship just before death while listening to the Buddha teach. The Dhp-a narrative attributes Dhp 142 ("even one adorned who lives in tranquillity…") to his story (Santatimahāmattavatthu — commentary — not canonical).
