Summary: Tambadāṭhika-coraghātaka is a figure from the Dhammapada-aṭṭhakathā commentary (not canonical). In the vatthu story, he was a royal executioner who served for fifty-five years and who, on retirement, received a meal-offering and teaching from Sāriputta on the very day the meal was accidentally delayed and he feared punishment. He died having heard the Dhamma and was reborn in a pleasant realm. The Dhp-a narrative attributes Dhp 100 ("one good verse that brings peace…") to his story (Tambadāṭhikacoraghātakavatthu — commentary — not canonical).
