Definition: In later Theravāda Abhidhamma usage, paramattha names the level of ultimate analysis as opposed to conventional designation. The exact label is later, but it points to categories canonically analysed in the Dhammasaṅgaṇī: consciousness, mental factors, matter, and the unconditioned (Dhs 14-18, Dhs 596, Dhs 1092).
